Voice Search Optimization: A Must-Have Strategy for 2025

Have you been optimizing your website for Voice Search for the 2025 coming year? if you haven’t, you’re really going to get screwed because in the future everyone is starting to use devices like Alexia, from Amazon, to perform voice searches.

Although not all voice assistants challenge your life decisions, they certainly contribute to the growth of voice search marketing.

It is estimated that over 25% of adults in the United States alone own at least one smart speaker.

Consider something like the Amazon Echo or Google Home. More broadly, over one-third of web users utilize voice search on their mobile devices.

Voice search is rapidly becoming the preferred method for users to seek information, make purchases, and interact with their devices.

According to Google, 20% of the Google app searches are done by voice, and that was back in 2016. Fast forward to today: 30% of Internet users worldwide uses voice assistance each week.

Around 98 million people in the US own a smart speaker in their household, and the list goes on.

In this article, we will dive into what exactly voice search optimization means, how it works, and how we should use it in our website and SEO tools.  

What Exactly Voice Search Marketing is?

Optimizing your website to be found by voice assistants such as Alexa or Siri when users ask certain questions is known as voice search marketing.

For example, “Where are the hair salons in my area?” or “What is the capital of Germany?”

Voice search SEO is the process of optimizing your website to appear in voice search results. You won’t have a lot of extra work to do because SEO for voice search overlaps with your regular SEO strategy.

5 Voice Search Marketing Strategy

1.     Write Like a person

Content that reads like a conversation is what you want to produce. Consider the language you use when speaking with a virtual assistant.

You ask a question to get information from your smart speaker or phone. You don’t say “144 square root” to get the solution to a mathematical equation.

You just pose the query. To compete for the top voice search results, your website must employ conversational language.

Try to limit your search for voice search terms to those that seem like they might be spoken by a human.

2.     Shoot for the stars with your ranking!

Generally speaking, your website will benefit greatly from landing at the top of the search results.

If you set up your site correctly, you will increase leads and sales and get some significant web traffic. The same goes for voice search marketing.

Answers from a featured snippet appear in about 41% of voice search results. For some searches, a featured snippet—also referred to as position zero—appears as a sizable box at the top of the search results that contains the title of a website and an answer taken from that page that directly answers the search query.

You can optimize for featured snippets in a few ways, namely by: Formatting sections of your website with questions and answers, creating a list of items that relate to a search query, or creating a table with comparison data.

If you own a college preparation company and would like to explain the distinction between private and public loans, for instance, you could want to start with the question, “What are the differences between public and private loans?” and then quickly follow it up with a response.

Google’s also getting smarter when it comes to how it processes language, so making it easy for people to get answers can help you with voice search SEO and regular SEO.

3.     Update your contact information

Google searches that included “near me” rose by 150% in 2017. The “near me” and other local voice search results are lost if you don’t have any or any updated contact information online.

The name and contact details of a business are usually included in the results when customers use voice search keywords targeted at locating nearby companies.

Ensure that your business profile is up to date on all search engines, including Google, Bing, and Apple Maps. It’s probably preferable to join those sites if you’re not already.

4.     Promote your content

Voice search results usually receive a lot of attention on social media, according to a Backlinko study. Consider posting a page on social media if it has been voice search optimized.

Now is the perfect moment to increase your online presence if you aren’t already on social media.

The likelihood that someone may visit your website and perhaps even link to it from their own website increases with the number of people who see your material on social media.

If Google sees people linking to your website and more people clicking on your search results, it can help you rank higher.

How should you optimize your content for voice search?

1.     Long-Tail Keywords

Compared to traditional SEO, optimizing your content for voice search calls for a different strategy.

Voice searches tend to be longer and more conversational, which is why focusing on long-tail keywords and natural language is crucial.

For example, instead of typing weather Paris, we might ask, what is the weather like in Paris today? Voice searches often follow natural language patterns and include question words like who, what, where, when, why, and how.

For example, who invented the telephone? Why is the sky blue? By understanding that users are asking complete questions, you can structure your content to provide comprehensive answers.

You can use different kinds of tools to discover conversational keywords.

·        Use your Google Search Console to discover existing keywords people are searching for to discover your site. Under the Performance tab, you want to select Queries and add a query filter.

Then you want to select Custom regex. Regex is the short form of the expressions. To discover keywords with question words like who, what, where, etc., you want to place this set of regex operations in the field.

Now, as you hit apply, it will display all keywords that contain those question words. Click on each of the queries and find out which page it belongs to, and you can optimize from there.

Alternatively, you can start with a page and discover the queries for the page, and you can use the same set of Regex operators to filter out those queries with question words.

·        You can use a tool like Answer Socrates. Just type in any topic, for example, home improvement, select a country, give it a while, and it will generate a huge list of questions that people typically ask.

And some or most keywords resemble voice search keywords.

·        Another way to identify conversational keywords is by simply googling. Keep doing that and you have lots of voice search keywords ready for you to be optimized.

2.     Optimize for Featured Snippet

in case you don’t know what, a feature snippet is, for some search queries, there are immediate answers right at the top.

Some people call it position zero, but the proper term for this is the Featured Snippets.

studies found that Featured Snippets comprise about 40% of voice search results, and they also deliver answers to 80% of Google Home users.

It is only logical to optimize your content for featured snippets. But how should you do it? The key is to have four elements in the introduction of your article.

First, A direct answer second, in a conversational tone, third, give concrete examples, and fourth, in concise sentences.

3.     Implement Schema Markup

Just like English is a human language, schema is the language of the search engines. It helps search engines understand the content on your page better, which is crucial for voice search.

We have a schema markup specifically designed for voice search called Speakable Schema. This schema is designed to identify sections of your content suitable for text-to-speech playback.

To implement the speakable schema, you need to have both the free and PRO versions of Rank Math installed.

The speakable schema is embedded in the article schema, it is recommended that you set the article schema for all your post articles.

To do that, hover over Rank Math SEO under Titles and Meta, go to Posts, and for the schema type, you want to make sure that the article schema is selected so that when you visit any of your articles, go to the Rank Math tab, and under the Schema options, you will see that the article schema is applied to the page.

If you click on the edit button to check out what’s in the article schema, you will see this option to enable speakable.
